Sticking to a healthy diet is crucial to your wellbeing. The aim should be to have more energy, boost your mood, improve your health, and feel great in the process. Here is a simple list of foods that should be reconsidered:

⦁ Carbonated Drinks: Fancy a crisp and refreshing can of soda to quench your thirst on a sunny afternoon? It’d be wise to refrain from this temptation and instead consider better options. According to a study appearing in Molecular Medicine Reports, carbonated drinks may alter brain activity and induce oxidative stress. [1]

⦁ Refined Sugars: Nowadays, refined sugars such as high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and table sugar are abundant in most foodstuffs on the store shelf – including sugary beverages and snacks. This exposes you to a wide range of detrimental health effects such as the increased risk of heart disease, liver disease, dementia, depression, type 2 diabetes, and hormone disruption. [2]

⦁ Artificial Food: Generally speaking, artificial food refers to any foods or ingredients that are designed to mimic natural foods. It includes artificial flavors and colorings that appeal to consumers – at the cost of their health. Some of these preservatives and additives are linked to allergic reactions, weight gain, increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, and cancers.

⦁ Processed Food: Although most foods we purchase are processed in one way or another, there’s a reason to be concerned over heavily and ultra-processed foods – i.e., foods that have been chemically altered with artificial ingredients. These foods often contain little-to-no nutritional value, carcinogenic compounds, and unhealthy levels of fat, sodium, and sugars.
