This is crazy: Did you know that under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act, manufacturers are not required to list all ingredients of household cleaners?

If you are looking for cheaper and probably much safer alternatives to the store-bought cleaning products then you’ve come to the right place. Here you will find twenty-two cleaning product alternatives for any of your cleaning scenarios.

1. Natural Oven Cleaner

• 1 and a quarter cup of baking soda.
• Quarter cup of vinegar (white)
• (To create a nice smell) add an essential oil – lemon is a very nice neutral one.
• 2 teaspoons of Castile soap (in liquid form).
• Half a cup of natural salt.

Mix the ingredients with a quarter cup of water, then put into a plastic spray bottle. Also worth trying – put a few drops of dish soap on half a lemon and use it to scrub.

2. Natural Furniture Polish

Get all of your wooden surfaces shining with this:

• Olive oil
• One lemon
• Container with lid (for storage).
• 1 cloth

Mix all ingredients into the container and shake until well blended. Wipe down your furniture, with the cloth.

3. Shower Cleaner Formula

• 1 Teaspoon of dish soap.
• 1 Teaspoon of dishwasher rinse aid
• Half a cup of hydrogen peroxide.
• Half a cup of alcohol.

Mix everything and put into a spray container.

4. Homemade Granite Cleaner

• 1/4 teaspoon of liquid dish soap
• 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol
• 2 1/2 cups of water

Mix in spray bottle. Rave reviews for getting granite super shiny!

5. Carpet Stain Remover

• 1 cup of water
• 1 cup of vinegar

If you have a stain in your carpet that won’t budge then dabbing the solution onto the stain will help clean it up.

6. Heavy Duty Carpet Cleaner

If the stain is STILL there the next formula:

• One-quarter cup of salt.
• One-quarter cups of vinegar.
• One-quarter cup of borax.

Add these to the ingredients of #5, then rub the paste into the carpet.

7. Home Made Windex Alternative

• 1/8 Cup (1oz) White Ammonia
• 1/4 Cup (4oz) Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
• 1 Drop Laundry Detergent
• Water Ð To Fill The Bottle

Mix the ingredients into a plastic spray bottle. Use with newspaper or cleaning cloths as usual.

8. Home-Made Febreze

• Baking Soda (2 Teaspoons)
• One-eighth cup of Fabric Softener.

Place in a plastic spray bottle, fill the remaining space with hot water and give it a shake.

9. Goo Gone Alternative

• 2 Teaspoons of baking soda.
• 1 Teaspoon of vegetable oil.

Mix into a paste, then rub off the grime with paper towels.

10. Natural Toilet Cleaner

• Lavender Essential Oil
• Tea Tree Oil.
• Three quarter cup of white vinegar.
• Three quarter cup of baking soda.

Simply mix these in a bowl and pour down your toilet. Let it sit for a 5 to 10 minutes before giving it a good scrub.

11. Natural Bleach Alternative

• 12 cups water
• 1/4 cup lemon juice
• 1 cup hydrogen peroxide

Mix. Add 2 cups per wash load or put in spray bottle and use as a household cleaner.

12. “Pledge” Dusting Spray Alternative

• 1 Teaspoon of olive oil.
• 2 Teaspoons of Vodka or Isophopyl Alcohol.
• 2 Teaspoons of vinegar.
• 1 Teaspoon of liquid glycerin.
• 40 drops of essential oil.
• Quarter Teaspoon of xantham gum.
• Half a Teaspoon of emulsifying wax.

Use a blender to mix the ingredients, then place into a jar.

13. Detergent For Dishwasher

• 1 cup of Washing Soda
• 1 cup of Borax
• 1 cup of Citric Acid
• 1 Teaspoon of Salt
• Essential oils scent.

Simply mix these ingredients and store in a container, then use 1 Teaspoon her load.

14. Anti-Bacterial Soft Scrub

• A quarter cup of Castile soap.
• Three-quarter cup of baking soda
• 1 Teaspoon of water
• Melaleuca essential oil
• 1 Teaspoon of vinegar

Add to a bowl, then mix until it turns into a paste.

15. Disinfectant Cleaning Wipes

For the wipes, cut up old clothing into squares then place inside a jar. Next to make the solution, you need the following:

• Quarter cup of vinegar.
• 1 cup of water.
• 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil.
• 10 drops of lemon essential oil.
• 7 drops of tea tree essential oil.

Mix these ingredients and pour into a container.

16. DIY Foaming soap

• Foam Pump
• Three-quarters of soap
• One-third of the water.

Mix by gently stirring the ingredients together.

17. Scented Room Air Freshener

• A half cup of Baking Soda.
• Essential lavender oil (10 drops)
• 1 Jar

Mix the baking soda and oil together, before putting into a jar.

18. Remove soap scum

• Glass Cleaner
• Magic eraser

Simply spray onto the scum and wipe thoroughly.

19. Glass Cleaner

• Plastic spray bottle
• 1 cup of water
• Dawn Dish Soap (3 drops)
• Quarter cup of vinegar

Mix up the ingredients then pour into the spray bottle.

20. Washing Machine detergent

• 1 cup of Borax
• 1 cup of Baking Soda
• 1 cup of Washing Soda
• Normal bar soap
• 7 drops of
• Scented essential oil of your choice.

Mix contents into a bowl, then apply to the washing machine.

21. Mrs. Myers Copycat Countertop Spray

• Quarter cup of vinegar.
• 2 cups of water.
• 1 Teaspoon of lemon juice
• 3 x drops of lemon essential oil.
• 3 x drops of lemongrass essential oil.

Mix and use in a plastic spray bottle.

22. Glass Top Stove Cleaner

• 1 Teaspoon of lemon juice.
• A quarter cup of baking soda.

Mix together until it forms a paste, then apply to surface with a cloth.
