What else could be a better snack than dehydrated fruits? They are delicious, but more importantly, they are healthy. Fruits are packed with essential nutrients that offer great benefits to your body. Not all snacks are the same in this regard.

With dehydrated fruits, you need not to worry about MSG, sugar or other toxins that may harm the body. And of course, your kids will surely love nibbling through these healthy snacks whenever they go camping, watch TV and taking a car ride – so they are a PERFECT way to give them snacks without the unhealthy aspects.

You will of course need a dehydrator to make these. Check out this one I found on Amazon. It’s a high quality one with stainless steel construction and is getting great reviews.

Here are some of the best fruits you can dry:

Strawberries are fortified with lots of health nutrients like Vitamin C, antioxidants, potassium, manganese, and fiber. Their manganese content plays a vital role in the health of heart, while potassium stabilizes blood pressure. When taken regularly, this red and juicy fruit is said to be able to help in reducing your risk for cancer, inflammatory diseases and heart disease. It can increase the level of good cholesterol in the body, prevent birth defects and makes an efficient aid for weight loss.

Bananas are best recognized for their potassium content. Potassium is an essential nutrient that helps in stabilizing the amount of fluids in the body as well as in preventing muscle cramps after exercise. The fruit is also good source of Vitamin C that boosts the body’s cell health and immune system as well as in encouraging the absorption of iron. Bananas also contain Vitamin B6, fiber, manganese, carbohydrates, calcium, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, iron, folate, carotene and choline which are known for their profound benefits to the body.

Peaches are delicious fruits that are packed with different health nutrients like Vitamin C, antioxidants, Vitamin A, bêta-carotene, iron, fluoride, potassium, lutein and zeaxanthin. Known to be good for the eyes, peaches are also reported to provide unique protection to the body against oral cavity and lung cancer. They even fortify the body against free radicals and help in boosting the immune system against different sorts of infections. Peaches are also said to make an excellent aid for weight loss.

Often found in salads, kiwis are miraculous sweet fruits that make excellent sources of nutrients like niacin, Vitamin C, fiber and potassium and Vitamin E. Some people find this fruit useful in treating acid indigestion, depression, macular degeneration, impotence, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Its vitamin C and antioxidant contents are beneficial in boosting the body’s immune system as well as in promoting physical fitness.

Probably the most popular fruit among the kids, apples are also one of the best fruits you can dry and serve. This fruit is packed with high levels of antioxidants that help the body fight against Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, Alzheimer’s, and different sorts of cancer. Apples are also excellent sources of Vitamin C, beta-carotene, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, riboflavin, pyridoxine, thiamine and dietary fiber which are clinically proven to have positive impacts to the health and well being of consumers.

  1. I love dehydrated fruits! One of our family favorites is Watermelon! I have found that the dehydrator is important, but a good mandolin is essential in getting equal sized cuts for even drying times. Love this site, please keep the amazing ideas flowing!
