Camphor is a waxy, crystalline substance obtained from the “Camphor Laurel” tree, Cinnamonum camphora. It can also be found as an essential oil. For centuries now, camphor has been widely used to treat various skin ailments which include irritation, pain and itching. It is a popular ingredients for many skin care products that address itch and rash. In addition to its ability to increase blood flow, camphor also works best in treating various skin conditions that are caused by fungi, bacteria and virus. Research shows that camphor makes a good treatment for recurring skin itch conditions like scabies and heat rash.

Tea tree
Tea tree essential oil is probably one of the most popular natural ingredients in skin products nowadays. The herb has anti-bacterial and antifungal properties that can help prevent and treat skin conditions like warts, acne, dandruff, cuts, scrapes, insect bites, chicken pox, athlete’s foot and ringworm.

    It probably is a better quality of calamine lotion to make your own, but it would definitely cost more.
