We’ve discovered a great recipe for a homemade mouthwash that uses all natural ingredients specially chosen for their antibacterial and aromatic qualities!
The formula includes baking soda – and this is well-chosen because, being alkaline, baking soda is reported to neutralize acidity in the mouth. The reason why this is of benefit is that the bacteria that cause cavities and gum disease thrive in acidic conditions. Upon reading this, I realized that even swishing the mouth / gargling / pulling with a spoonful of baking soda and a mouthful of water after meals is going to be of great benefit. If you were to do this after every meal, (in addition to your proper regimen of oral care of course) I imagine that your teeth would stay in sparkling good form.
The formula I have linked to builds on this foundation with some great essential oils and a few other ingredients.
One last tip – don’t forget that baking soda and baking powder are slightly different things. You want the pure baking soda for home remedy uses. 😉
