How To Make All-Natural "Vicks" Vapo Rub

Image – Gardentherapy.ca

I just discovered this nice alternative recipe for a home-made version of “Vicks Vapo Rub” over at Gardentherapy.ca

What’s great about this recipe is that it uses all natural / vegetable-based ingredients, plus beeswax… and nothing petrochemical: The “real” Vicks contains some petrochemical ingredients which some may wish to avoid due to uncertainty over how healthy these substances are.

I looked around online for the recipe for the “real” Vicks VapoRub and Wikipedia has it: It contains “special petrolatum” (petrochemical) and “spirits of turpentine” (potentially petrochemical) – in addition to Camphor (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic), Eucalyptol (Cough suppressant), Menthol 2.6% (Cough suppressant and topical analgesic), Cedarleaf oil, Nutmeg oil and Thymol.

The “alternative” recipe contains olive oil, coconut oil, grated beeswax and essential oils (eucalyptus, mint, lavender, rosemary and camphor).

Also, there’s nothing to stop you making your own “custom” blend including your favorite essential oils!

The recipe is effectively a “therapeutic” version of the all-natural solid perfume recipe I posted a few weeks ago.

Note that Vicks VapoRub is undoubtedly a trade mark and so if you are making these recipes for distribution you will need to call it by another name ;)

Is there a cost for this? If so, I can’t join, times are too tough for us, tho we need the info. Mrs. Judy A Martin.

Haha Judy no, there is no cost! All my info is free. In the case of articles where I share my discoveries from around the web, the link to the original is at the foot of my commentary.
