    Kefir comes from The North Caucasus. (Believed to stem from an un-independant country called Adyghey).It is a Circassian drink. Circassians are not Eastern Europeans, nor are they Russians. They have their own ancient culture.(Nothing against the Russians) 🙂 When handling Kefir, don’tbuse any metal cutlery with it. It somehow ruins its beneficial properties. Always use other materials. Wooden, glass, plastic, etc. But not metal.
