We’ve just found a great recipe for a herbal tincture for sleep.

The main ingredient is valerian – which has been used as a sleep remedy since ancient times and is a well known natural sedative.

The recipe also includes vegetable glycerin, which is an interesting alternative to alcohol that is typically used for making tinctures.

The article also includes a huge list of other other tips on the subject of helping you sleep without use of pharmaceutical drugs.

There are several other herbs which people have found beneficial for sleep. We also compiled a more scientific-style article listing ten of the best ones, together with some of the medical research that has been done on them – and this will make great ‘supplemental reading’ for those interested in this subject: 10 Herbs For Insomnia

Yes! This recipe is for anyone who hasn’t stepped outside conventional pharmacology. The bounty with which it is chosen from holds much to be explored. How restorative you will experience, once you flee from those who wish to entice you. Cheers to good health!

I am your first comment and it is an honor for me to be so blessed. Herbal remedies have been used for thousands of years in every culture and country. Our body can easily recognize the specific herb for a specific part of the body. Herbs are tonics and some are relaxants and others affect hormones but they all do one thing. They help bring the body into homeostasis without the collateral damage of drug therapy. Holistic CHef Barry

I was all excited to find a natural sleep aid till I saw the first ingredient, valerian. I’ve found that anything with valerian in it gives me very bad dreams – always.

I recently started using Valerian root extract because my nerves had been shot lately and I haven’t been sleeping to well. I bought Mason natural Relax and sleep at my local pharmacy. It has Valerian root extract, passion flower, celery seed powder, catnip powder, hops powder, dried orange peel. It does wonder’s! It takes a while to kick in but worth it! I was looking for something similar to Xanax and this is it! I take 4 tablets and within2-4 hrs. I am calm and or sleeping. I highly reccomend this!!

If you are taking medication make sure that you check that you can take valerian, or anything else prescription, over the counter or herbal. I had major side effect because it was interfering with my prescription medication.
