So you thought that coffee was just for drinking, right? Not quite.
Coffee is one of the world’s most popular drinks and has been popular for hundreds of years. It was the world’s seventh-largest legal agricultural export by value in 2005. Oxford, in England, has a coffee house – the “Queen’s Lane Coffee House” which has been running since 1654.
It just so happens that in addition to being the choice “morning fix” for millions, there are numerous useful “weird but amazing” things you can do with either fresh or used coffee grounds. We found this top 20 list (link below) – which includes some pretty crazy ones. Using it as a hair treatment? Who found out that it works – and what persuades them to put coffee on their hair in the first place?
I have to be honest – not all of these ways of using coffee appeal to me. Or should I say, they are not quite my cup of tea. (sorry, couldn’t resist it.) Caffeine is said to boost fat metabolism, meaning that coffee is suggested as a rub-on cellulite treatment. Personally, I don’t really fancy using it on my skin or hair. I love the smell of coffee, but not quite that much. Fortunately, nowhere near all of the “weird but amazing” uses (fortunately) involve getting covered in the stuff . From ant repellent, cat deterrent, “secret” flavoring agent and even air freshener, there are some great ideas. I think my second favorite idea has to be using it as oyster mushroom compost – and my favorite? Definitely as a touch-up for scratched furniture. Genius.
